Privacy Policy

KuhuGallery ("the App") is a photo and video gallery application developed by Kuhu Labs. We are committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we handle your information when you use KuhuGallery on your Android device.

KuhuGallery stores the following data locally on your device only:

• App preferences: Your chosen theme (Light/Dark/System), language, grid column settings, and sort preferences.
• Favorites list: A local list of media items you have marked as favorites.
• Trash bin data: Media items you have deleted, temporarily held before permanent deletion.
• Private Vault metadata: References to files you have moved to the Private Vault (encrypted and stored locally).

Kuhu Labs does not collect or have access to:

• Your photos or videos — media files never leave your device.
• Personal identification information — no name, email, phone number, or account is required to use the app.
• Location data — the app does not access GPS or location services.
• Usage analytics or crash reports — we do not embed analytics SDKs or tracking libraries.
• Advertising identifiers — the app contains no advertisements and does not access your advertising ID.
• Contacts, calendar, or microphone data.

KuhuGallery requests only the permissions needed to function as a gallery app:

• READ_MEDIA_IMAGES / READ_MEDIA_VIDEO (Android 13+) or READ_EXTERNAL_STORAGE: Required to display photos and videos from your device storage.
• WRITE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE / MANAGE_MEDIA: Required to delete, move, or save media files.
• CAMERA: Required only if you use the in-app camera feature to capture new photos. Optional — the app works fully without granting this permission.
• USE_BIOMETRIC / USE_FINGERPRINT: Required to enable biometric unlock for the Private Vault. Your biometric data is handled entirely by your device's secure hardware — Kuhu Labs never accesses it.

The Private Vault feature allows you to hide sensitive photos and videos behind biometric authentication or a PIN. Here is how it works:

• Encryption: Files moved to the Vault are encrypted and stored in a private app directory on your device, inaccessible to other apps and not visible in the system gallery.
• Biometric authentication: Fingerprint or face unlock is processed entirely by your device's Android BiometricPrompt API and secure enclave. Kuhu Labs never stores, transmits, or accesses your biometric data.
• PIN: If you set a PIN backup, it is stored in encrypted SharedPreferences on your device only.
• Vault data never leaves your device under any circumstances.

KuhuGallery does not integrate with third-party analytics, advertising networks, or social platforms. The app does not use:

• Google Analytics, Firebase Analytics, or similar SDKs
• Facebook SDK or any social media SDK
• Crash reporting services (e.g., Crashlytics, Sentry)
• Ad networks (AdMob, Meta Audience Network, etc.)

If future versions of the app include optional cloud backup features, this policy will be updated accordingly and you will be notified before any such feature is enabled.

All data generated by KuhuGallery is stored locally on your device. We implement the following security practices:

• Vault files are encrypted using AES encryption via Android's security libraries.
• App preferences are stored in private SharedPreferences, inaccessible to other apps.
• No data is transmitted over the internet.

If you uninstall KuhuGallery, all app preferences and Vault data are deleted. Media files in your main gallery are not deleted on uninstall.

KuhuGallery is a general-purpose gallery application suitable for all ages. Since we do not collect any personal information from any user, we have no special concerns regarding children's data. We comply with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) and Google Play's Families Policy.

Kuhu Labs may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make significant changes, we will notify you through an in-app notice or by updating the "Last updated" date at the top of this page.

Your continued use of KuhuGallery after any changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy. We encourage you to review this page periodically.
